Natural Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

BHRT – Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (Estrogen, Testosterone, Pregnenolone, DHEA, Progesterone, Human Growth Hormone and Natural Thyroid) restores our hormones to levels we had in our youth. It regenerates our energy and zeal and is beneficial to both health and quality of life. BHRT is becoming the focus of mainstream medicine because of its efficacy in slowing down the aging process and achieving the prevention of illnesses (heart disease, stroke, cancer, and senility) as well as the symptoms of aging.

Preventive Medicine = Optimal nutrition, caloric restriction, adequate exercise, vitamin and antioxidant supplementation, avoidance of risk factors, and optimal bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).

                                         What Do Hormones Do?

Hormones are molecules that are released into the blood stream and exert biochemical effects on target cells and affect every organ in the body. By activating receptor sites which enables protein synthesis to take place, hormones then serve as messengers from the central nervous system, telling internal organs how to function, heal, reproduce and regenerate. All the functions of the body including the reproductive, immune and metabolic systems are virtually controlled by hormones.

Look Better, Stay Healthier and Improve Your Quality of Life

The Natural Biologically Identical Hormone is derived from plants, such as soy and yams and are manufactured to be identical to the hormone molecule produced in the body. Natural, bio-identical hormones should always be prescribed over chemically altered, problematic synthetic hormones. The potentially harmful effect of synthetic hormones has made natural, bio-identical hormones the only safe alternative. Landmark research and well documented literature support the importance of BHRT as a therapy and should not be confused with the studies involving synthetic hormones.

Types of Bio-Identical Hormones can be administered in several ways that best suits you: capsules, transdermal creams, lozenges, troches, or liquids.

Replacing hormone levels vary widely from one individual to another, so for optimal results hormone replacement should be carefully balanced and monitored. Physicians at PMC of Beverly Hills are trained and experienced in evaluating specific blood tests and prescribing a personalized program for BHRT.

Cost of Hormone Replacement Therapy

♦ First year of Hormone Replacement Therapy is $1,200. This includes all office visits and monitoring by our office and physicians.

♦ Lab fees are covered by insurance or patients without insurance are given a discounted rate of $600. Prescriptions for bio-identical hormones are a separate cost, and may be covered by insurance.

♦ Subsequent years of Hormone Replacement Therapy costs $350 per year. This includes all office visits and monitoring by our office and physicians.

What is HCG?

HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) is a hormone naturally produced in large quantity during pregnancy. HCG is currently FDA-approved as a prescription injection drug to treat some cases of infertility and some select male hormone imbalances in the U.S. It is commonly used around the world for a variety of treatments, and has been for decades. Any other use of HCG is considered off-label use.

Dr. A.T.W Simeons, the doctor who developed and worked with the HCG Diet Protocol for about 20 years, found that small, regular doses of HCG caused the body to release abnormal fat when used in conjunction with a specific 500 calorie daily diet. This is detailed in Dr. Simeons' manuscript, Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity. This diet is only comfortable and advisable with HCG. Most participants are not hungry and have plenty of energy.

Who developed this protocol? Is it safe?

Dr. A.T.W Simeons, developer of the HCG Diet Protocol, was born in London and studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Dr. Simeons worked on the problem of obesity for 40 years and specifically on the HCG Diet Protocol for over 20 years. He received prestigious commendations for his work, wrote several medical books, and contributed to many scientific publications. His most well known work is his manuscript, Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity. It is surmised that one of Dr. Simeons' “aha” moments occurred during his work in poor countries where he observed pregnant mothers, who had barely anything to eat, produce healthy babies without their own health deteriorating. Dr. Simeons found the HCG Diet Protocol to be extremely safe and effective.

Cost: $675. This includes consultation, medical supervision and all medical supplies.

PC3 Injections

PC3 is a time-tested anti-aging program proven to improve the signs of aging by promoting overall good physical and emotional health. PC3 consists of injections and oral supplementations of procaine, plus several vitamins and botanical extracts.

The treatment is based on almost one hundred years of research. During the first fifty years of development, procaine was invented and produced for use as a local anesthetic. During the next fifty years, up to our present day, researchers have been dedicated to the clinical study of the ability of procaine and other compounds to decrease the signs of aging. Procaine's foremost advocate and researcher, Professor Ana Aslan, MD, and Director of the National Institute for Geriatric Medicine and Research in Bucharest, Romania, made procaine her life work.

Dr. Aslan observed that procaine injections alleviate many of the signs of aging. She documented noticeable improvements in patients with arthritic conditions, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular disease, immunodeficiency, psychosomatic disorders, depression, and other ailments.

The PC3 treatment evolved in the Fall of 1997 when Dr. Shirley Elzinga studied Dr. Aslan's procaine therapy at the Aslan Kur-Institute Olsberg GmbH in Olsberg, Germany.

Dr. Elzinga's variation of the treatment begins with injections, over twenty-one days, of procaine supplemented with vitamin B complex, folic acid, vitamin E and vitamin C followed with oral supplementation of procaine, PABA, acety-L-carnitine, chondroitin sulfate, and glucosamine sulfate. The injections can be repeated two to three times per year.

The anti-aging effects become profound as the protocol is repeated over a few years: arthritic joints become more flexible, the mind and body regain their original speed of thought and reflex, emotions become more stable, and more.

PC3 can be a strong companion to Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) to support the body's vitamin levels, improving overall mental and physical health. The power of PC3 can be optimized through a BHRT program under the direction of a physician of longevity medicine at the Preventive Medicine Clinic of Beverly Hills.

Cost of PC3 Injections:

PC3- 1 Day- 2 Injections- $190.

PC3- 7 Days- 14 Injections- $700.

PC3- 10 Days- 21 Injections- $1,200.

Massage Therapy

Massage will increase your healing process, increase joint range of motion, decrease pain, and decrease daily stress to provide physical and mental relaxation.

Swedish Massage Therapy: This is the most common type of massage therapy. Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy is very gentle and relaxing. If you've never had massage before, this is a good one to try first.

Aromatherapy Massage: Massage therapy with the addition of one or more scented plant oils called essential oils to address specific needs. The massage therapist can select oils that are relaxing, energizing, stress-reducing, balancing, etc. Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to stress-related conditions or conditions with an emotional component.

Weight Loss Abdominal massage: Points on the abdomen improve digestion, absorption of food, and peristalsis of the intestines. The abdominal points are stimulated with massage.

Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury.

Shiatsu: Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork that uses localized finger pressure in a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians. Each point is held for two to eight seconds to improve the flow of energy and help the body regain balance. It is relaxing, yet the pressure is firm.

Thai Massage: Thai massage aligns the energies of the body using gentle pressure on specific points. Thai massage also includes compressions and stretches. The therapist moves and stretches you into a sequence of postures. Thai massage is more energizing than other forms of massage. It is also reduces stress and improves flexibility and range of motion.

Pregnancy Massage: Pregnancy or prenatal massage is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers. Massage therapists are certified in pregnancy massage and know the proper way to position and support the woman's body during the massage, and how to modify techniques. Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. The massage is customized to a woman's individual needs.

Reflexology: Although reflexology is sometimes called foot massage, it is more than simple foot massage. Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points on the foot that correspond to organs and systems in the body. Reflexology is very relaxing.

Sports Massage: Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one---it's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus is on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Please ask us about other types of massage available and to make an appointment.
Massage Therapy:  $24.00 per ½ hour or $48.00 per 1 hour (in office)!

IV Nutrient Therapy

Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other natural organic compounds are real medicine. Clinical studies continue to show that IV nutrient therapy can:

● Help in prevention and treatment of a wide variety of diseases and conditions

● Improve general health and overall well-being

At the Preventive Medicine Clinic of Beverly Hills, we practice IV nutrient therapy that is firmly based on medical and scientific evidence. It includes IV vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other natural organic compounds which are given as an intravenous infusion. Relying on oral supplementation may not be efficient or quick enough to treat the inadequacies and malfunctions that undermine our health. IV nutrient therapy delivers nutrients directly into the bloodstream and the cells. Only IV nutrient therapy can deliver the high concentration required for clinical effectiveness.

We use only the most advanced therapies available to keep you feeling your best. Our extensive selections of intravenous nutrient therapies – vitamins, minerals, and amino acids – are custom tailored to your individual needs. Our medical director, Steven Marcus M.D., is a board certified doctor who will see you prior to recommending an IV nutrient therapy plan. Your treatment will be administered by a highly skilled nurse.

IV nutrient therapy may be helpful for:

● Cold and Flu

● Allergies and Asthma

● Athletic Performance Enhancement

● Certain Cardiovascular Conditions

● Fatigue

● Gastrointestinal Problems (IBS, Crohn's, colitis)

● Post-Surgery Recovery (including bariatric and cosmetic surgery)

● High Blood Pressure

● Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic Pain

● Anxiety and Depression

Cost of IV Nutrient Therapy

A consultation by a physician is necessary on the initial office visit. This will include an IV nutrient therapy --- Cost is $150.

Subsequent IV nutrient therapy --- Cost starts at $160.

Depending on your specific treatment, you may have a quick “IV push,” which takes just 20 minutes, or a longer lasting IV drip, which may take 20-90 minutes.

The number of treatments is dependent on your particular condition and your individual response to treatment. Many of our patients report feeling symptomatic relief, more energy, and an overall sense of well-being after just one session of IV nutrient therapy.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture treats diseases and strengthens the body's physical condition to prevent disease, to promote health and to achieve longevity. When the unceasing flow of “life energy” throughout the body is smooth and in balance, one is healthy.

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that has been practiced for centuries. It's based on the theory that energy, called chi, flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians. It is believed that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your chi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence chi and help it flow back into balance.

Acupuncture is done by putting very thin needles into your skin at certain points on your body. This is done to influence the energy flow.

Acupuncture Weight Loss Treatment
Acupuncture has been shown to have an effect on the function of the nervous system, endocrine system, digestive system, food cravings, and metabolism. All of which can help to energize the body, maximize the absorption of nutrients, regulate elimination, control overeating, suppress the appetite, and reduce anxiety.

The beauty of acupuncture is that each treatment is catered to the needs of the individual patient. Acupuncture points on the body will be chosen for overall well being with the objective of increasing circulation of the blood and Qi (stimulating the metabolism) and calming the nervous system.

Ear Points
Acupuncture points on the ears have been found to be particularly effective for weight loss. The human ear has been described as a micro-system of the body in an inverted fetal position; it contains points relating to all major organs and body parts.

In addition to treating the root of the imbalance within the body, different acupuncture points may be chosen for each treatment as different symptoms arise. For instance, if you are experiencing a desire to overeat one week, then that can be addressed at that week’s appointment.

Backed by Research
A growing body of research supports the use of acupuncture and Asian medicine in weight loss:

♦ A 2003 study published in The Journal of Medical Acupuncture found that participants receiving acupuncture lost more than three times more weight than the control group.

♦ In a study conducted by the University of Adelaide in Australia in 1998, 95% of the participants receiving acupuncture reported appetite suppression. The results showed that the acupuncture group was more likely to experience a reduced appetite and to lose weight than the control group.

Generally treatments are scheduled once or twice a week for 8 to 12 weeks or until the goal weight has been reached. The treatments include a combination of auricular (ear) and body acupuncture, and ear tacks or pellets to leave on in between treatments.

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine are powerful tools for healthy weight loss, by itself or as a supportive treatment in conjunction with other weight management programs.

In the struggle to eat less and expend more energy, you may find that acupuncture is just what was needed to overcome cravings, boost energy, enhance your metabolism, and increase your willpower to succeed!

Cost for Acupuncture Weight Loss Treatments:

Initial office visit and treatment is $85. Subsequent office visits are $45 per treatment.

Oxygen Therapy

What is Oxygen Therapy?

Oxygen therapy is a treatment that provides you with extra oxygen, a gas that your body needs to work well.  Normally, your lungs absorb oxygen from the air. However, some diseases and conditions can prevent you from getting enough oxygen.

Oxygen therapy may help you function better and be more active.  Oxygen is supplied in a metal cylinder or other container.  It flows through a tube and is delivered to your lungs through a nasal cannula, which consists of two small plastic tubes, or prongs, that are placed in both nostrils.

Benefits of Oxygen Therapy?

Oxygen therapy helps many people function better and be more active.  It may also help:

- Fatigue                             - Arthritis

- Strengthen Immune System           - Autism

- Allergies                                          - Cancer

- Stress                                             - Cerebral palsy

- Depression                         - Cirrhosis

- Insomnia                                         - Fibromyalgia

- Chronic fatigue syndrome               - Gastrointestinal ulcers

- Combat environmental toxins      - Stroke

- Combat the accumulation of toxic waste from food

- Decrease shortness of breath

- Improve sleep in some people who have sleep-related breathing disorders

- Increase the lifespan of some people who have COPD

- and many more benefits...

Cost for Oxygen Therapy:  $50 per 60 minute treatment.
